Molly's broken leg

My poor little Molly!!!
Yesterday we were going to go up the canyon to shoot guns. While we were getting the guns ready my daughter had our two dogs outside, she put them in the back of the Durango and Molly in all of her infinite wisdom decided to jump out! Ok so normally she has done this at least a thousand times, but oh no not this time she some how landed just right!!! In the house I heard her yelping and went outside to see what happened. She hobbled over to me with her leg dangling!!! Needless to say instead of going shooting we spent the next 5 hours at Banfield pet hospital inside of Petsmart with her. Of course they are surgery happy and wanted us to pay $1500 for surgery. I think not!!!! So they casted her leg and there we were. I had to call work and request to be on call because I had no idea when we would get out of there. It was a good thing, because we didn't get done until after 5:30. The poor little girl!!! This is the second time she has broken a bone. When she was just a little pup she thought it would be fun to "roll" off our balcony (10 ft drop) and broke her paw on the other side. Again they wanted to do surgery, but we couldn't afford it. Same hospital. Imagine that she healed just fine. I don't like them. Why can't animals get hurt during business hours at our regular vet?????

Clam chowder recipe

Here is that recipe that I promised I would put on the blog. It is so good!!!! You could probably even substitute the clams for something else if you don't like clams!

Clam Chowder

INGREDIENTS (Nutrition)
3 (6.5 ounce) cans minced clams
1 cup minced onion
1 cup diced celery
2 cups cubed potatoes
1 cup diced carrots
3/4 cup butter
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 quart half-and-half cream
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
ground black pepper to taste

DIRECTIONS
Drain juice from clams into a large skillet over the onions, celery, potatoes and carrots. Add water to cover, and cook over medium heat until tender.
Meanwhile, in a large, heavy saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour until smooth. Whisk in cream and stir constantly until thick and smooth. Stir in vegetables and clam juice. Heat through, but do not boil.
Stir in clams just before serving. If they cook too much they get tough. When clams are heated through, stir in vinegar, and season with salt and pepper.

Ryan lost his first tooth!!!

CHEESE!!!!!!!

See my beautiful tooth!

He is sooo excited!!

Ryan actually has already lost a tooth though. When he was 3 he hit his face on a metal bunkbed and his top front tooth started dying, so the dentist had to pull it. He was excited for his first "real" lost tooth. He pulled it out himself. My hero!!!!!
